Possible Tasting Topics:
Free Choice: Great for real beginners in the whisky world. We would discuss wich direction you would like to go for tastes, regions, countries etc. and we would put a tasting together to educate, excite and enlighten you. |
Scotch Whisky: Learn about the differences between grain, blended and malt whiskies. What is exactly is a single malt and what is so special about it? And that is just the start! |
Irish, American, Canadian Whisky...: Your chance to get to know and appreciate Whiskies from all over the world. For example, what´s pure pot still ore Rye ore Bourbon. Your global adventure begins here. |
Malt Whisky: Would you like more to know about malt whisky. We cover the whole journey from the ingredients (barley, etc) to distillation to the massively important factor of time (the maturation). |
Regions: Scottish Single Malt Whisky - here you can learn about Scotland, and its regions and how single malt varies from region to region. |
Blind Tasting: This is a very special way to get in touch with the subtleties of single malt whisky. We use special coloured glasses, which make it impossible to identify the whisky from its colour and you have to rely fully on your sense of taste and smell. |
Peat & Smoke: Islay is probably the best recognised region due to its use of peat and smoke in the making of its whiskies. In this session you can discover all the wonders of Islay, its 8 distilleries and their magical stills, which imbue the flavours with peat and smoke. During the evening you can compare the Islay whiskies with other regions also using this method and through this find the right one or two? FOR YOU!!! |
Oak & Finish: Probably the biggest influence on the taste and smell of a single malt are the oak casks that it matures in. Each cask is unique, whether larger or smaller than its neighbours, its staves vary in thickness and no the pores are never the same size. Which makes each and every cask like a fingerprint and its whisky within all the better for us. |
Flavours: The longer a whisky remains in its cask, the more flavour it will acquire. Age does not necessarily mean a better one; for example, some prefer a tannic 25-year-old, some a luscious honeyed 18-year-old and some a sherried 12-year-old. This tasting is designed to help you find your favourite one or ones? |
